Bay Park Sewer Treatment Plant
Nassau County, NY
Value: $830 Million
Timeline: Ongoing
Del Sol Consulting Engineering played a key role in securing the Public Assistance Alternative Procedures (PAAP) award for Nassau County, NY, leading to the $830M restoration and upgrade of the Bay Park Sewer Treatment Plant—the largest single-funded project in FEMA's history. Working closely with Nassau County officials, Senator Chuck Schumer, Governor Andrew Cuomo, and FEMA’s Craig Fugate, Del Sol helped Nassau secure the first-ever 428 Letter of Understanding from FEMA Headquarters. The project allowed the county to modernize its infrastructure, including building a T-Wall levee system to protect against a 500-year flood. Key upgrades included electrical systems, pump stations, and a backup generator funded by the New York Environmental Facilities Corporation. The project was completed $50M under budget, thanks to Del Sol’s guidance.
